SONY XPERIA SL review

The Xperia SL has the same solid build of the Xperia S which despite being plastic manages to feel sturdy and slim, and at 144 gm, is pretty light as well. There're a microUSB port and HDMI port on either headphone jack is placed on the top. The 4.3-inch HD screen sails past the iPhone 5’s Retina Display with a pixel count of
342 ppi. Coupled with the Sony Mobile BRAVIA Engine, this makes anything and everything on the screen look super sharp and crisp. Colour reproduction is very
good and so is the sunlight legibility. The display also supports 10 finger multitouch gestures. The interface is a lot snappier than that of its close cousin, which is mostly due to the fact that it’s Android 4.0 ICS
this time around. The phone is powered by the same dual-core Qualcomm MSM8260 processor, but now it's been overclocked to run at 1.7 GHz instead of 1.5 GHz.
The slight bump in speed helps get rid of some of the lag in the UI while giving a little boost to demanding apps like 3D games and photo/video editing. This increase in power also helps when browsing, as image-heavy sites tend torender a little quicker. Audio quality is very good as well and the music player is
simple and easy to use and 3G phone with support for high speeds like 14.4 Mbps HSDPA and 5.8
Mbps HSUPA. We also have the usual assortment of connectivity features like Wi-Fi ‘n’, Wi-Fi Direct, DLNA, NFC and Bluetooth v3.0 (Xperia S had Bluetooth
v2.1). The 12 megapixel camera excels at macro shots but only if the lighting conditions are ideal. Outdoor shots come out really well with a lot of detail in the
pictures. You also get plenty of depth of field effects in close-up shots. There’s no touch-to-focus since you have a  dedicated camera shutter button. As far as battery life is concerned, the 1750 mAh will get you through the day on a single charge. For Rs 30,000, the Xperia SL takes a very good all-rounder; it offers
you very good camera performance as well as multimedia playback and good connectivity options.
